Job Responsibilities:

  • DBA vendor management
    • Provide guidance on support issues
    • Set priorities for new development and enhancement requests
    • Ensure team is performing to expectations
    • Ensure change management process is being followed
    • Assist with high priority support escalations

    Database/Historian architect

    • Set future direction of database/historian technology and design a roadmap
    • Annual obsolescence review
    • Annual capital project planning (1YP/3YP)
    • Set licensing strategy and monitor compliance
    • Maintain support contracts with technology vendors
    • Ensure systems remain in a supportable configuration (i.e. software version, firmware version, OS, etc. alignment)
    • Review all new database requests to ensure compliance with company standards
    • Present strategies to senior management

    Project management

    • Annual project submittals for database/historian related projects
    • Provide cost estimates for new project requests outside of ZBS TechSupply capital plan
    • Work with vendors to develop statements of work and cost estimates
    • Create purchase requisitions and manage POs for project tasks
    • Maintain monthly cash flow documents
    • Ensure successful transition to support at the end of the project
    • Communication and coordination with sites for project implementation

    Reporting/Data Analysis

    • Work with teams to understand data reporting needs
    • Provide guidance on reporting and data analysis best practices
    • Provide initial POC for new reports
    • Work with vendor to get cost estimates for larger reporting and dashboard requests
    • Help users understand where they can find specific data

    Application architect

    • Assist with application rationalization efforts
    • Review new application requests to ensure alignment with company standards
    • Ensure proper documentation is in place to help support custom applications (i.e. architecture diagram, SOPs, etc.)
    • Ensure vendor follows proper software design standards and follows proper change management procedures for implementation and updates

    Reviews bug reports and aligns on priority and remediation plan

Job Qualifications

Job Requirements:

    • BS degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent technical degree
    • Experience designing, supporting, and licensing database platforms (Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase) – MS SQL is a requirement with Oracle and Sybase strongly preferred
    • Project management experience preferred
    • 3+ years of Vendor management experience
    • Good communication, documentation, and presentation skills
    • Familiarity with virtual systems and infrastructure, particularly VMware
    • Familiarity with Microsoft clustering technologies
    • Familiarity with process historians, particularly FactoryTalk and OSI PI historians
    • Familiarity with reporting platforms such as Microsoft SSRS, PowerBI, and Excel
    • Understanding of application design and software development life cycle
    • Some coding and scripting experience preferred
    • Experience in manufacturing or other 24x7 operation industry
    • 5+ years of relevant experience
